Peace Day Pray 09/21/2013

0 notes &

With the words “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in several languages, a Peace Pole is a physical and tangible reminder of a community’s commitment to peace. Many communities install a Peace Pole on the occasion of Peace Day (September 21), or gather around one to rededicate themselves to peace, justice and reconciliation.
Here is a sample service for you to adapt and use in dedicating a Peace Pole for your community. (This service is specifically Christian, but many use Peace Poles as an opportunity for interfaith bridge-building.) Click here for a 2011 story from Katrin Frye of Montana Public Radio about the installation of a Peace Pole in Montana.
